American Seeds Announces Five New Acquisitions

American Seeds Inc., a Monsanto Company subsidiary, announced it will be adding five new brands to its existing line of regional brands.

In separate transactions, American Seeds acquired the seed marketing and sales business of Diener Seeds, based in Reynolds, Ind., and Sieben Hybrids, based in Geneseo, Ill. The Monsanto subsidiary also entered into definitive agreements to acquire Kruger Seed Company, based in Dike, Iowa; Trisler Seed Farms, based in Fairmont, Ill.; and the seed marketing and sales business of Campbell Seed, based in Tipton, Ind. Collectively, the five companies serve growers in the central and eastern Corn Belt, and represent approximately 1.4 percent and 2.0 percent of total U.S. corn and soybean seed sales, respectively.

Monsanto is acquiring these businesses in cash transaction aggregating approximately $77 million.
