This past week brought heavy rains and wind to much of Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.
Some areas of Western Illinois have severe lodging especially in the Monmouth area. Areas of Northern Illinois have severe flooding; DeKalb County was one of the hardest hit. Southern Wisconsin has been hit hard as well. All of this moisture is not beneficial as it will increase the likelihood of plant disease.
The soybean crop is already showing significant areas of Sudden Death Syndrome and I expect White Mold to increase as many of the soybeans are lodged due to the heavy rains and wind. So far the corn is not showing too much leaf disease or stalk rot, time will tell if this will be come more of an issue. With all of this moisture ear rots could become more of a factor.
