Harvest is rolling along nicely now in Iowa and South Dakota.

Yields are bigger in places than expected. 5711 is really shining so far. There are some stalk issues in the wetter areas of the state. Mostly due to the extreme wet weather we had in August. Be sure to check your fields for stalk rot and harvest accordingly. A good fast way to check is to pinch the corn stalk about 12” above the soil line. If you can pinch the stalk completely, it may not stand during a wind storm.

Also, I see many fields of soybeans that are ready to go. It looks to be a great bean year and I am anxious to hear how good the Vistive beans are doing this year. So far they sound promising.
