Attached is a two-page brochure regarding the latest bizarre pest outbreak in Michigan, Noctua pronuba (winter cutworm).
In central and northern MI, especially north of Clare, these caterpillars are reported in vast, damaging numbers. Growers have been treating in some locations for the past several weeks. There may not be alot we can do now, but Howard Russell reports this critter feeds under and on the snow, and may cause damage in early spring.
