ISU: Corn Yield Predictions for Replanted and Late-Planted Fields

Abstract of article:

Field research data along with computer simulations provide an approximation of how late-planted corn will yield given multiple scenarios. At this time (late June replant situations), producers should plant hybrids that are 10 and 15 days earlier than hybrids typically used in an area. These will have the greatest chance of maximizing yield while lowering risk of very poor yields. The risk of a fall frost with planting these hybrids will range from 29-39% in the south and central regions and up to 66% in the north. Read on…

An ancient offshoot of soybeans may one day provide resistance to sudden death syndrome (SDS) and soybean rust, University of Illinois scientists reported at the recent U of I Agronomy Day.
