GMO Detection

GMOs are produced by a technology that allows the direct transfer of gene of interest (usually from an unrelated species or organism, such as Bt gene from a bacterium). When the same gene construct gets integrated into a plant genome at different sites, different events are produced. It is required that such events be monitored at the molecular level.

GMO and Quality Control

In the wake of GMO production, AgReliant Genetics has established important quality control criteria to ensure that:

  • No GMO is present in the conventional seed lot
  • Only the intended event is present in a specific GMO seed lot.

Consequently, our Molecular Marker Lab uses a sensitive DNA technique to check research lines and seed lots. Your assurance of this process is a quality control tag that is attached to every Great Lakes hybrid or product that is released.
