Our major research locations involve the initial replicated testing of future Great Lakes hybrids. The major research locations are throughout the corn belt, where more than 50,000 hybrid combinations are tested and analyzed for possible promotion to the next stage of testing.
Regional performance testing of new hybrids that show the greatest potential
The N.E.T. Program is one of our most important hybrid development steps. Hybrids in this years program include 80 to 100 of the most advanced selections from our replicated plots, along with many of the commercial hybrids currently sold by Great Lakes Hybrids. In addition, we also place some of the toughest competitive hybrids in the trials for evaluation. More than 420 N.E.T. plots are being evaluated during 2006.
On-farm field testing done by our dealers and customers
The Generations Ahead plots serve as the final on-farm test of potential GLH hybrids before they are introduced into the marketplace. Our Agronomic Team plans each year’s trials and only the most promising candidates are tested against our outstanding current product line-up and the key competitors in that given maturity.
